Amy Phillips (STIM director)

I started on staff with InterVarsity at North Carolina State University and Meredith College in the fall of 2000. I first got involved with InterVarsity in undergrad at UNC-Chapel Hill. While I was a student I thought about going overseas during my available summers. My family couldn’t really help me pay for school so I really felt as though I needed to work during the summers to help out with school costs. Sad, I know. I didn’t believe that the Lord could both take me overseas and provide for me back in the States when I returned.

When I started working with InterVarsity, I started planning and trying to figure out how I could go on a summer project. After being on staff a couple years, my time came and I went to Mongolia in the summer of 2003. It was my first extended trip out of the States. And I loved it! Spring of that same year (before I left for Mongolia ), I started staffing STIM. I love STIM. I returned to Mongolia the following summer and have continued working with STIM. I love training students for not only their summer overseas, but also for the rest of their lives as they think about living in a multi-ethnic world and culture. I truly believe that students come to STIM for summer training and receive life-skills training. STIM is truly for life (and your summer)!
