8. What happens when people send money?

InterVarsity (in Madison WI) has a special account set up under your name in connection with Blue Ridge STIM. When a donor sends a check in, InterVarsity will send them a receipt showing how much they sent in and the account the money was put in. The receipt will indicate that the gift is tax-deductible.

9. What if someone makes a check out to me and hands it to me?

Checks should be made out to InterVarsity. If someone makes a check out to you, then you should sign it over to InterVarsity. In the endorsement part on the back of the check write: Pay to the order of IVCF by Your Signature .

Keep a few BRE’s (Business Reply Envelope), so that you can send the check to InterVarsity. (Fill out the top portion of the BRE so that InterVarsity will be able to send a receipt to your donor.)

10. What if I run out of Business Reply Envelopes and Response Cards?

If you run out of BRE’s, ask your InterVarsity staff if they will give you some of theirs. Most staff have some in their offices and that will be the quickest way for you to get the envelopes. If they don’t have any, give me a call.

If you run out of response cards, look for the Response Card Master on the website (under STIM 2007). You can download the master copy and make more response cards. Be sure to use cardstock paper.

11. Donor Tracking Reports

Once a month, InterVarsity sends a spreadsheet listing the names and amount of all who have given to your account. I will send these reports to you via snail mail or bring them to STIM weekends. Use the reports to keep up with whether your donors fulfilling their intentions (and whether you are keeping up on thank yous!)

I will also forward email updates from the national office to you weekly (or at least almost every week!)

12. Follow up: Write Thank You Notes!

DO NOT LET YOUR THANK YOUS PILE UP. SEND THEM WITHIN THREE DAYS OF RECEIVING A RESPONSE CARD !!!!

Use the form in the pre-STIM packet of info to keep track of your donors.

13. What happens if something happens and you can’t go?

Money stays in STIM account (minus STIM expenses) to be applied to a project
next summer. If that doesn’t work out then money will help future STIMmers go overseas.
